Massive fire breaks out at Israel's Haifa oil refinery after missile attack
Iran and Lebanon have launched a major missile attack on an oil refinery in the northern Israeli city of Haifa.
The attack on Monday (March 30) caused a massive fire at the refinery, the second time the strategically important facility has been hit since the Iran-US-Israel war began last month.
Citing Israeli media, the international media Al-Jazeera reported that a series of missiles were fired at the 'Bazan' oil refinery in Haifa. Immediately after the attack, a plume of black smoke was seen rising into the sky from the facility. The authorities of the Bazan Group said that the missile hit the roof of a distillate tank or refining tank.
It was not immediately clear whether the fire was caused by a direct missile strike or by debris from an intercepted missile. Fire commander Etan Rifa said: "The situation is now completely under control. There were no casualties and no chemicals that pose a risk to public health were released."
